Russell Barnier, Solicitor, was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in Melbourne.  Following articles at a major city law firm, he chose to enter the corporate arena and commenced practice as in house counsel.

What followed was a career that began as a corporate lawyer then company secretary to a major Australian bank.  That role was followed by 10 years as general counsel and corporate secretary to a major health care network in Melbourne.

Following a consulting position where corporate and governance advice and guidance was provided to organisations across many business sectors, a preference for a country lifestyle was developed through a three year contract position as general counsel and corporate secretary to a major government services authority in regional Victoria.

Living in Bendigo now for just over ten years, this legal practice was formed nine years ago to provide the Bendigo business community with quality corporate legal advice and assistance in developing practical internal governance procedures that enhance business performance and transparency at all levels from Boardroom to shop floor.

As a member of the local community, Russell is a non-executive director of Shine Bright EYM (a provider of kindergarten and day care services to central and northern Victoria) and Chair of Eaglehawk UFS Dispensary Board as well as being a member of the Bendigo Law Association Committee, Be.Bendigo and the Bendigo Social Scooter Group.
